Elon Musk To Step Down As Twitter CEO
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has announced that he will be stepping down from his position in about six weeks time and will be replaced by a successor.
New CEO Candidate Identified
Rumors have circulated that the new CEO candidate is Linda Yaccarino, who currently serves as the head of advertising at media conglomerate NBC Universal. It is rumored that she will take on the task of getting Twitter’s advertising business back on track after it suffered major losses due to Musk’s free speech enforcement policy.
Yaccarino has had an impressive career which includes launching Peacock, an ad-supported streaming service, and signing a deal with Twitter for NBC Universal for footage from the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Additionally, she spent 19 years at Turner Entertainment leading its advertising sales into digital realms.
Musk To Remain CTO Of Twitter
Musk will remain involved with Twitter but as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) instead of CEO. This includes overseeing products, software and sysops, among other responsibilities.
It remains to be seen if Linda Yaccarino does indeed become the new CEO of Twitter and what changes she may bring to revive its struggling advertising revenue stream.
